Taipei GTA updates
The project has no press kit and no roadmap page, so the developer's public posts on Threads are the changelog. This page puts those posts in order, newest first, each with the date it was published and what it actually changed — plus a plain note on which parts are confirmed and which are still only announced.
| Date | What changed | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 6 October 2026 | New Taipei map still in testing; launch pushed back a few days. Songshan Airport is visitable now. | Announced, then delayed |
| 4 October 2026 | Thanks to players; feedback being collected; Taiwan maps in development. Songshan airport teased with a Hong Kong connection. | Confirmation |
| 3 October 2026 | Bug fixes shipped: three named quest problems fixed, and the police cars updated. | Shipped |
| 2 October 2026 | New Taipei map in progress, described as about three days away; Taoyuan, Taichung and Kaohsiung named as later plans. | Announced |
| 28 September 2026 | Project introduced: a Taipei open-world game, free to play in a browser, described as finished rather than a demo. | Shipped |
6 October 2026 — New Taipei slipped, Songshan is open
The most recent post is an apology and a delay: the New Taipei map is still in testing and will arrive a few days later than promised. In the same breath the developer suggests somewhere to go in the meantime — Songshan Airport — which makes it the newest area to actually visit rather than read about.
That shape is worth noticing, because it repeats across the whole timeline: a delay is always paired with something concrete you can go and do. If you are looking for a fresh place to explore today, the airport is the safest bet.
4 October 2026 — more players than expected
Two days before the delay, the developer wrote that the game had drawn noticeably more players than anticipated and that the feedback — including the problems that cannot all be answered individually — was being collected rather than ignored. The same post said new Taiwan maps are in development and closed with Songshan and Hong Kong flagged together, which lines up with the Hong Kong build this guide documented separately.
3 October 2026 — a bug-fix pass and a police car update
This is the most concrete engineering post of the set: three named problems were fixed in one pass and the police cars were updated. It matters for players because it confirms two things you can verify in the build — that the quest system is actively maintained, and that the police pursuit behaviour is being tuned rather than left as it shipped.
It is also a reminder that this is one person's project running on a fast loop. The developer describes the working pattern directly: write a feature, fix bugs, spend more tokens, expand the map.
2 October 2026 — the map leaves Taipei
The post titled *Taipei is only the start* is the roadmap statement. New Taipei was said to be about three days away, with Taoyuan, Taichung and Kaohsiung named as cities further down the queue, and the developer thanking people for sharing clips of their own play. The stated goal is bigger than one city: to build an open world of Taiwan piece by piece.
As of the build we reviewed, the only cities present are Taipei and Hong Kong, so everything after that is announced work rather than playable content. The city guide covers what is confirmed to exist right now, district by district.
28 September 2026 — the introduction
The pinned post is where most players found the project. The developer described building a Taipei-set open-world game, named streets and districts that had made it in, said it had already cost more than 10,000 US dollars in AI tokens, and made one thing explicit: this was not a demo, it was playable for free right away. The same post recommended playing on a computer rather than a phone for image quality, and invited requests for what to build next.
That introduction is the reason this guide exists: a browser open world with no download and no account is unusual enough that most of the questions people have are about how to start, how it runs on their machine, and whether it costs anything — which is what the rest of this site answers.
What we will add here next
This page tracks announcements; the city guide tracks what is actually in the build. When New Taipei ships we will verify it the same way everything else here was verified — by looking at what the browser downloads rather than at what was promised — and then add it to the city guide. If you want the background on who is making the game and how it is built, that is on the developer page.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official changelog for Taipei GTA?
Not as a page of its own. The developer announces progress through public posts on the project's Threads account, which is what this page collects and dates.
When will New Taipei be released?
It has been announced and then delayed within the same week, so there is no reliable date. The developer's own most recent word is that it is still in testing and a few days late.
Does this page update automatically?
No. It is compiled and dated by hand from public posts, and it says when it was last read. Anything announced after that date will not appear until it is added.
