Is Taipei GTA free to play?
Yes. The game runs in your browser with nothing to buy and no paywall between you and the city, and this site is free to read as well. Adverts appear on the guide pages, but they never gate play: the playable build is served from its own origin and loads the same whether advertising cookies are on or off.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. There is no download, no installer, no launcher and no account. Open the page, click once inside the game area so the keyboard reaches it, and play. Because there is no account, there is also nothing to sign out of and no profile stored on a server.
Does it work on a phone or a tablet?
Yes. On a touch device the keyboard is replaced by on-screen controls and the actions stay the same. Play in landscape: portrait leaves no room for two thumbs and a road. If the embedded game feels cramped, use the fullscreen control so the city fills the screen.
Which keys do I really need to learn?
Five cover almost everything. W, A, S and D move you on foot and steer a vehicle; F gets you in and out of a scooter or car; Space jumps on foot and works the handbrake while driving; M opens the map; T opens the in-game phone. The controls page lists the rest.
The game shows a black screen or stays on loading. What can I do?
Give the in-game loading screen time to finish: the frame can look black while the build is still arriving. If it never clears, check your connection, use the reload control on the player, and if that still fails open the game in its own tab. A slow connection is the usual cause, not a broken game.
Why does pressing W scroll the page instead of moving my character?
The game does not have keyboard focus. Browsers send key presses to whichever element you last clicked, and a page with an embedded game is still a page. Click once inside the game area, then press the key again.
Does my progress save?
There is no account and no cloud save, so your progress is kept in this browser's storage instead of on a server. It normally survives a reload of the page, and clearing this site's data in your browser erases it.
I keep seeing the name spelled several ways. Is it the same game?
Yes. Taipei GTA, 臺北 GTA, 台北 GTA and TAIPEI GTA all point at the same game. The Chinese spellings are simply the traditional and simplified ways of writing Taipei, and capitalisation changes nothing. Search whichever form is easiest for you and you arrive at the same place.
Is this an official Rockstar game?
No. Neither the site nor the game is affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. The game is a fictional parody built by its own creators, and its content belongs to them. Treat every character, brand and location as invented.
What am I agreeing to when I press Accept?
You are granting consent for Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense to use advertising and analytics cookies; until you do, they stay denied by default.
